I have been using Day Hill Automotive for at least the past 25 years because (1) they are very responsive, (2) complete the work on time and (3) typically do a good job. However, that being said, I've become more and more disappointed with their pricing. Their labor rate is similar to other auto shops in our area, but they use a parts supplier who charges us (the paying customers), via Day Hill, almost twice what other parts suppliers charge other shops. For example, Day Hill quoted a large repair job for my vehicle: labor $700, parts $1100, hazard & shop fees $50, for a total of $1850 before sales tax. Another shop in our area (which, btw, also has good Google reviews) quoted the following: labor $700, parts $565, fees $6, for a total of $1271 before sales tax. I strongly recommend that Day Hill finds a less expensive parts supplier whose pricing is not 95% higher than other suppliers in our area. Also, Day Hill doesn't mind taking advantage of customers (even long term customers!) if they think they can get away with it. When a simple part broke on my vehicle, instead of replacing it myself, I took my car to Day Hill - my bad: labor $100, part $110, hazard & shop fees $10, for a total of $220 before sales tax. On Amazon, the same part costs $40, so it's quite clear that Day Hill's parts supplier really jacks up his prices. The next time this part broke, I changed it myself: similar part on eBay: $4, labor: 5 minutes. You'd hope Day Hill would not overcharge their long-term clients by so much, but then again, business is business!
